Of 36 transportation infrastructure improvement grants from the federal TIGER or BUILD programs awarded to California since 2009, seven have been for projects in the Central Valley from north of Sacramento to Bakersfield. Another 180 applications for Central Valley projects were denied funding between 2009 and 2018.
