Increases in U.S. deaths from COVID’s common comorbidities

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has categorized excess deaths from other specific natural causes, like hypertensive diseases or diabetes, as deaths that “could represent misclassified COVID-19 deaths, or potentially could be indirectly related to COVID-19.” As of March 6, 158,212 more Americans died from these natural causes during the pandemic compared to the previous two years.

*16 counties in the country had less than 10 deaths of these diseases, and any number below 10 is suppressed by the CDC. No data is included from these counties.
