To calculate positive tests as a percent of total tests, the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services only uses molecular (PCR) test results from laboratories that report both positives and negatives. A rolling average represents an average of positive tests in a 7-day period.

DHHS does not publish raw numbers detailing daily negative and positive tests from labs reporting both of these figures - just percentages.
