Appendix 2: Injury Severity Score (ISS)

The Abbreviated Injury Scale serves as the basis for the ISS calculation. The ISS (ranging from 0–75) is calculated as the sum of squares of the highest AIS score in the three most severely injured ISS body regions. If any injury is assigned an AIS of 6, the ISS is automatically 75.
