Canada's transition to underground nuclear waste storage

Currently, Canada's spent nuclear fuel is stored at seven sites across Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick. Planned future solutions include the Deep Geological Repository (DGR), a facility located 500 metres below ground in one of two Ontario communities.

Note: Storage totals for existing waste sites are current to June of 2022, as described in this report (table two).
