Feds execute 5 in 2020

The U.S. government, which has resumed executions after a 17-year hiatus, has put five federal prisoners to death in 2020. States execute the vast majority of death row inmates; federal authorities have only put eight prisoners to death since capital punishment was reinstated in 1976.

Data for 2020 is as of Aug. 28.
