From Jan. 1 to Jan. 22, nearly 13,000 NC voters switched their party registration, of which 53% went from Republican to Unaffiliated. That rate was even higher from Jan. 7 to Jan. 22 when 59% switched from Republican to Unaffiliated. In 2020, 237,611 NC voters (3.2% of all registered voters) switched their party registration, 16% of which was Republican to Unaffiliated.
