Serious Dog Bite Injuries Are More Common in Rural California

The rate of emergency room visits for dog bites was almost 50% higher in counties with fewer than 200,000 people in 2022. Modoc, Inyo, Lake, and Siskiyou counties had the highest rates of emergency room encounters.
