NC Prison Medical Release Program
The outcome of medical release cases from January 2019 to Aug. 7, 2025.
The categories of cases not completed and cases with inadequate after care plan are newly tracked by the Department of Adult Correction, and data from previous years is not available. In the process of obtaining this medical release data, NC Health News identified some data inconsistencies in numbers reported by the Department of Adult Correction and the Parole Commission, but this includes the best available numbers. A DAC spokesperson said, "We are working to provide a more robust tracking mechanism in the future that will eliminate reporting discrepancies."
