The numbers below indicate the percentage of positive cases of COVID-19 reported daily by the Texas DSHS, calculated as a 7-day average.
For several months, the state only calculated the positivity rate based on the Reported Date -- or the date the case was reported -- they refer to this as the Legacy method. In mid-September, they included two other methods for calculating the positivity index, by the date the sample was confirmed in a lab and by the date it was collected from the patient.
The varying rates can be seen by selecting from the three options below. The previous color code has been removed to avoid confusion about the severity of spread while moving through the different reporting methodologies.
On Dec. 12, the DSHS began reporting positivity rates by test type and no longer by the methodologies below.
