Over half of math dual enrollments happen in BSTEM courses, and a third are in SLAM

Source: Authors' calculations using MIS data. NOTES: The figure is created based on 29,574 math dual enrollments by 19,994 students in 2022-23 high school graduating class. The SLAM pathway includes liberal arts math and statistics courses taught in the math department and other disciplines (e.g. psychology, business), and the BSTEM pathway includes courses like college algebra, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus and upper division math. Upper division math courses include calculus II, calculus III, differential equations, linear algebra, etc. Precalculus courses include precalculus + trigonometry combo. Statistics courses include statistics courses offered outside math departments. These courses represent 97% of math dual enrollments. Figure is created using data from Technical Appendix Table B24.
