'Forever chemicals' in water at Rountree jail facility

State-set notification levels determine when residents must be informed of the contaminant in their drinking water.

Units are in parts per trillion, equivalent to nanograms per liter. Notification levels are used for chemicals in water that are not regulated by maximum contaminant levels, including PFAS or “forever chemicals.” The EPA’s maximum contaminant level for PFOA of 4 parts per trillion will be enforceable in 2029.
