¹Missouri received approval from CMS for their 1115 Waiver on 4/16/2021, however on 2/7/2022 the state communicated its intention of pausing implementation because of predicted decreases in enrollment due to the state's Medicaid expansion implementation.
²Tennessee extended its Medicaid postpartum coverage period using a Section 1115 Waiver and extended its CHIP postpartum coverage period using a CHIP State Plan Amendment.

SPA: A state plan is a formal agreement between a state and the Federal government on the specific administration of that state's Medicaid and CHIP program. State Plan Amendments are applications submitted to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) by a state for requests to change any program policies, update corrections, or implement new operational approaches to the state's programs.
Section 1115 Waivers allow the Secretary of Health and Human Services to authorize pilot/experimental projects that promote the Medicaid program objectives - giving states flexibility to tailor programs to their state's Medicaid population.
