Number of OSHA Inspections Following Severe-Injury Reports, 2015–2021
Federal OSHA safety inspectors conducted inspections of fewer than 25 percent of severe injuries reported. Severe injuries include those that result in in-patient hospitalization, amputation, or loss of an eye.
This chart shows how many severe injuries were reported to OSHA between January 2015 and April 2021; of the 390 total severe injury incidents in dairy, meat, and poultry industries, the agency conducted 97 inspections.
