Jatis may not confirm to broad caste inequality trends

A 2011 survey conducted in Bihar shows that sub-castes within broad caste groups defy the received wisdom on social inequality.

Each broad caste-group has been given the same colour code. Among broad caste groups, Forward Castes (FCs) are the most well off, followed by Muslims, Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Extremely Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs).
