Revolving Door Prohibitions for State-level Lawmakers and Employees

This map shows which states have revolving door prohibitions, or "cooling-off periods" for state legislators or employees. The periods prevent lawmakers and/or employees from working as lobbyists immediately following their time with the state legislature or other public body. Please note, the prohibition's period and nature differ among the states.

Michigan's RDP applies only to lawmakers that resign or otherwise leave office before their term expires. Minnesota's applies only to members of the state's House of Representatives, not both its House and Senate.
