Texas and California have the highest nursing home populations—with 86,502 residents in Texas and 99,162 in California. Smaller states have significantly fewer residents in nursing facilities—for example, Wyoming has only 1,931 residents, and Alaska has just 726, highlighting regional differences in elder care infrastructure and population density.
