Data presented is from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding drug and opioid-involved overdose deaths in the United States from 2016 and 2017. In 2016, 66.4% of the 63,632 drug overdose deaths involved an opioid whereas in 2017, 67.8% of 70,237 deaths involved opioids. Illinois, Ohio and Michigan are states with the highest amount of opioid-related deaths from 2016-2017.
