School district takeovers increased following 2015 law

Here's all the state takeovers of independent school districts since 2000. The start and end dates for each takeover is shown. Since October, TEA has announced plans for four more. Also shown is whether the takeover was for academic or non-academic reasons, as well as related laws that have taken effect over the years.

Note: Start dates represent when board of managers were appointed to every district except the Fort Worth, Beaumont, Connally and Lake Worth school districts, since the state hasn't appointed boards to oversee those districts yet. Instead, the timeline shows when those four takeovers were announced.
