Age of people in prison who died of COVID-19

Almost 40% of those who died of the coronavirus while incarcerated were younger than 65. Black people in prison more frequently died young.

Confirming the racial and ethnic breakdown was complicated by prison and medical examiner records that did not uniformly document ethnicity. This data reflects the 194 COVID-19 deaths of people incarcerated in Florida's prisons confirmed by the Orlando Sentinel through public records.
