How Has The Austin Police Department's Budget Grown?

How much Austin has spent on policing since 2009

The latest budget total is subject to change. City Council will decide how to spend roughly $50 million it cut later this year, and that money could go back into the police budget. In addition, $80 million of the cuts represent divisions that were moved out from under the police department, but still perform public safety functions. Fiscal years at the city begin Oct. 1. So, FY 2008-2009 represents Oct. 1, 2008, through Sept. 30, 2009.
