If passed, Proposition 118 would establish a program to provide up to 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave for Colorado workers beginning in 2024. The state-run insurance program would be funded through a new 0.9% payroll premium split between employers and employees, with at least half of the premium paid by employers with 10 or more employees. Under the program, employees would be entitled to paid-leave benefits of up to $1,100 per week for up to 12 weeks, for a variety of reasons including the birth of a child and caring for themselves or a family member with a serious medical condition.
