According to an Inquirer analysis of police data, 226 people have been shot in Kingsessing since January 2020, with 65 fatalities. Twenty-six children were among the shooting victims, with five fatalities. Kingsessing has one of the highest rates of gun violence in Philadelphia, with 216 shootings per square mile since 2020, compared with a citywide total of 65 shootings per square mile in residential areas. Only six other neighborhoods — Fairhill, Kensington, Hunting Park, North Philadelphia/West, Mantua, and West Philadelphia/Parkside — have higher rates.
