Factors for Determining the Allocation of the Second Half ($25 Billion) of the Rural Health Fund
Note: Initiative-based factors will be reevaluated over time based on a state's progress. State policy factors are based on whether a state has adopted, committed to adopting, or made progress towards adopting certain policies. Weights reflect the share of the second half ($25 billion) of the rural health fund allocated based on a given measure when all factors are considered (starting in the second allocation year). CMS is distributing funds across approved states based on their total score relative to other states. CMS will calculate the score based on the 23 factors in this table by allocating 100 points for each factor across states, multiplying the points for a given factor by a weight, and taking the sum for a given state. "Referenced in reconciliation law" means that the factor is based on a criteria CMS is required to consider under the law.
