Northern Territory prison population (daily average)

The average number of prisoners in full-time custody in the Northern Territory has risen from 1,648 to 2,810 over the past nine years.

A green line graph shows the average number of prisoners in full-time custody in the NT. Starting in 2015 June the figure was 1,633. By June 2025, it increased to 2,810.
The highlighted chart shows the CLP (displayed in orange) was in power until 2016, when Labor (displayed in red) won government. The CLP was elected again in August 2024.
