Holiday Suicide Myth Perpetuated

The myth that suicide deaths increase over the winter holiday season has been mentioned nearly 900 times in media reports since 1999-2000, according to an analysis by the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. More often than not, the myth is supported and portrayed as true. Last winter, only 44% of the stories mentioning the myth debunked it.
