Note: Data cover full-time instructional-staff members on 9- to 12-month contracts at degree-granting associate and baccalaureate/associate public institutions in the United States that are eligible to participate in Title IV financial-aid programs. Institutions are categorized by the 2018 Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, published by the Indiana University Center for Postsecondary Research. Summary data are given for average salaries within each relevant classification. Baccalaureate/associate colleges include those that offered at least one bachelor’s-degree program but conferred more than 50 percent of degrees at the associate level. Associate colleges are classified on the basis of how much they focused on career and technical fields that require only an associate degree, compared with fields that require transfer to another institution for further education to obtain related employment. Two-year special-focus institutions are excluded. More-detailed institutional and summary faculty-salary data can be viewed online at https://data.chronicle.com.
