Majority of counties in NC spend less than the national average on election funding per voter. AN analysis of the Fiscal Year 2022-23 county budgets available show that 16 counties meet the recommended funding level, and 84 fall short. This map shows the difference between the average and what each county spends.
National average was collected in 2000 and adjusted for inflation to 2022 dollars. Counties that are blank on the map did not have board of elections budget data available.
