Welfare spending makes up 1/3 of Labour budget

The total budget for 2024/5 is £1,275bn - a quarter of which (23.8%) is allocated for welfare spending. Over half of this goes to pensioner benefits, with 7.1% of the national budget spent on health + disability benefits.
