NOTES: Emergency shelters (27% of the bed inventory) are facilities with the primary purpose of providing temporary shelter for homeless people. Transitional housing programs (9% of beds) provide shelter for people experiencing homelessness combined with supportive services for up to 24 months. Safe havens (0.3%) provide temporary shelter and services to hard-to-serve individuals. Rapid rehousing (15%) is designed to help people experiencing homelessness move quickly into permanent housing. Permanent supportive housing (42%) is designed to provide housing assistance (project- and tenant-based) and supportive services on a long-term basis to people who formerly experienced homelessness; clients must have a disability. "Other permanent housing" (7%) is housing with or without services that is specifically for people who formerly experienced homelessness and does not require people to have a disability.
