Growth of First 7 Years of Saccharina Farming in Japan and Norway (Metric Tonnes)

Saccharina farming in Japan started in 1970 with ~300 tonnes of wet weight output. Thanks to rapid growth in production, just after 7 years (by 1976) Japan produced ~22,000 tonnes wet weight of Saccharina. Norway issued its first permits in 2014 but the ramp-up of production is much slower with lower growth rates and periodic declines in seaweed farming outputs.
