Pa. Once Again Lost Residents After Gaining the Year Before, While N.J. Continued to Lose Population

Whether Pennsylvania gains or loses residents fluctuates from year to year, but last year the state lost more residents than it gained, a major reversal from the year prior, when 38,000 more people moved in than out. Meanwhile, New Jersey has seen more residents leave than move in for more than a decade.

Numbers are as of July 1 each year, e.g. 2022 numbers reflect births from July 1, 2021 to July 1, 2022.
