This is a graphic showing the national average sunset and sunrise time in 2023 if Daylight Saving Time was made permanent, if Standard Time was made permanent, or the current system continued to be used.
For the "current system" scenario, DST used from March 12, 2023 through Nov. 4, 2023 and standard time used for the rest of the year. National average taken across 3,142 U.S. counties and equivalents. The sunset averages do not include data from seven Alaskan counties.
