Seven Maine forestry companies with recent environmental violations are awardees of $5.6 million in state grant money

A total of $1.6 million was awarded to T&D Wood Energy, a "High Priority Violator," and ND Paper, Inc., which was penalized $100,400 by the state in August for past spills at its Old Town mill.

Environmental violations were identified through the US Environmental Protection Agency's ECHO database.
