Voter turnout in Maryland over the past twenty years

For the first time in 3 elections, the voter turnout rate in Maryland may have risen 0.31%, according to an estimate by the United States Election Project. A decline in voter turnout across the 2004, 2008 and 2016 presidential elections totaled about 6%. The sharpest decline was seen in the 2012 election where 5% fewer voting-eligible citizens cast their ballots.
