29 states with 300 electoral votes have GOP legislatures

As of Aug. 1, 2020, 29 states have legislatures in which both houses have Republican majorities. Those states control 300 Electoral College votes. Nineteen states and the District of Columbia are led by Democratic-majority legislatures, which have 223 electoral votes. Minnesota, with 10 electoral votes, is divided, with a Republican-majority Senate and a Democratic-majority House. Nebraska's unicameral legislature is officially nonpartisan, with five electoral votes.
