One assessment of where social capital is strongest

Social capital is about connections among people. Congress's Joint Economic Committee assessed counties' social capital and ranked them by looking at family unity and interaction, social support, community health and institutional health, among other indicators. The top 20% are in dark blue; the bottom 20% are in light green. Counties in gray were not scored.

Map shows the highest social capital in the upper Midwest, Northern Plains, New England and Northwest.
