Schools with lots of disadvantaged students do worse on SBAC ELA tests

For each school in San Francisco that serves middle schoolers, the percentage of students at the school who are socioeconomically disadvantaged compared to the overall ELA proficiency of the students

ELA to Standard is the average, over all students, of each student's scaled score on the SBAC ELA test minus the minimum score required to reach Standard Met status in the student's grade. Squares are K-8 Schools; circles indicate middle schools. The two KIPP schools are shown as middle schools but have small 5th grade classes too. The size of the square or circle is based on the number of students in grades 4-8 who took the SBAC test in both 2024 and 2023 and hence were included in the growth score calculation.
