Rip currents

Rip currents are riverlike channels that can move away from a beach shoreline at high speeds. During the month of June, almost a dozen people died in the Gulf of Mexico from deadly rip currents. In Alabama, 25 deaths have been attributed to rip currents from 2017-2023, the fourth highest in the United States.
