Federal Employees by State 

About 80% of the federal workforce works outside of the Washington, D.C. region, with federal employees in every state. 

Data as of September 2024. An additional 276,235 federal employees work in the U.S. but their locations are not provided for security reasons and so are not reflected in the map.  An additional 54,210 civilian employees work in U.S. territories and foreign countries.
