Number of failing HISD campuses drops more than 65% in 2024

The total number of campuses that would have received failing ratings from the Texas Education Agency fell from 121 in 2023 to 41 in 2024, according to preliminary ratings calculations released by HISD using the refreshed A-F accountability formulas. Official ratings from TEA for both ratings years are held up in separate lawsuits.

Failing ratings: In 2022, Senate Bill 1365 mandated TEA to assign an official ratings of "not rated" to schools that would have received D or F ratings for the 2021-22 school year. HISD campuses that received the exemption have been also highlighted as failing in the table.

Unofficial ratings: 2023 and 2024 ratings shown are based on HISD's unofficial ratings calculations.
