Cities have taken a variety of actions to promote or ensure that the needs and safety of all road users are integrated into transportation projects. Legislation is usually considered the strongest form of action, with the potential to impact the most projects in a city and create an actionable obligation for planners, engineers, and others involved in project implementation.

This figure shows the names, types, and years for actions take to promote or ensure that the needs and safety of all road users are integrated into transportation projects. Of the 76 cities included in this figure, only 10 were not found to have actions in data from the National Complete Streets Coalition.
