For each year, the official index for the manufacturing sector as a whole and the nominal weights of individual industries at the beginning of the period are used; the contribution of the excluded industries is subtracted, after which a synthetic index for the remaining industries is calculated; the annual indices are then multiplied. OKVED 25, 26 and 30 are used as an analytical proxy for industries with a high share of military-industrial demand; in reality, they have significant civilian output, while some defence production is, conversely, carried out in other industries, particularly the manufacture of electrical equipment (OKVED 27), which is not included in this proxy.
