Figure 1: American Views on AI's Effects on Society are More Negative Than Positive, 2025

The following question was asked to participants, who were U.S. adult citizens: "Do you think that the effects of artificial intelligence (AI) on society will be...?"

Note: The YouGov March 5-7, 2025 poll had a sample size of 1132 U.S. adult citizens with a margin of error of ± 4%. The YouGov April 23-25, 2025 poll had a sample size of 1100 U.S. adult citizens with a margin of error of ± 3.9%. The YouGov June 27-30, 2025 poll had a sample size of 1112 U.S. adult citizens with a margin of error of ± 3.8%. The YouGov August 8-11, 2025 poll had a sample size of 1122 U.S. adult citizens with a margin of error of ± 3.9%. This is the latest publicly available data as of October 20, 2025.
