Vanderbilt Owen claimed the top spot in the Mid-Atlantic…with an asterisk. While Owen grads averaged $175,000 to start, the number is based on three students. In reality, the top performer was the Wharton School, whose 54 Mid-Atlantic hires combined for $167,054 in starting pay – edging out the 23 Harvard Business School grads who averaged $165,500 in 2022. Emory Goizueta made its presence known by scoring a $160,028 base – 5th-best among full-time MBA programs in the region. In terms of low pay, both North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School and Penn State’s Smeal College had graduates who earned $60K in base. In contrast, an HBS grad received a $255K, edging out grads from Wharton and Chicago Booth who came in at $250K. A Virginia Darden grad also made $215K in the Mid-Atlantic to start. In total, 21 of the Top 50 school didn’t report pay in the Mid-Atlantic, the largest total in any region.
