Houston-area SNAP enrollment over time

The number of people approved to receive SNAP benefits in the Houston metro area has fallen over the past several months at the fastest rate since at least 2022.

Note: The Texas Health and Human Services Commission does not publish SNAP enrollment data on its website for years prior to 2022. The Houston metropolitan statistical area includes Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery and Waller counties.
