Emissions Intensity of Beef Imports

A wide range of countries import relatively high-emissions beef. Displacing any amount of this with U.S. beef would have disproportionately large emissions benefits.

Average emissions intensity, weighted by non-U.S. imports, calculated using the Olympic average of annual 2013-2024 imports using trade data from FAOSTAT and lifecycle production emissions for 2015 from FAO GLEAM 3.0. Includes boneless, with the bone, fresh/chilled, and frozen beef. Showing only countries with at least 1,000 tons of annual non-U.S. beef imports.
