Florida homeowners’ insurance burden largely depends on where in Florida those homeowners live, the survey indicated. Residents of storm-plagued South Florida pay the most and see the biggest increases.

Sun Sentinel/Orlando Sentinel survey of 1,511 Florida homeowners with property insurance conducted by the Public Opinion Research Lab at the University of North Florida between July 16 and July 31, 2026. The overall margin of error is +/- 3.2 percentage points but ranges from +/- 3.8 points to +/- 4.8 points for regions.
