Instructional vacancies
Statewide data show an increase in the number of vacancies of teaching positions at North Carolina public schools on the 40th day of school.
The way that the state records a vacancy changed between 2019-20 and 2020-21 to better reflect when a position is not filled by a licensed teacher. That contributes to the increase in 2020-21.
