Political campaigning exemptions

Q: Political parties are currently exempt from the Privacy Act and the Do Not Call Register, enabling them to collect, store and use personal information in ways that many other organisations cannot.
Some argue that this is vital for the democratic process as political parties need to be able to communicate with all their constituents, but, others believe this is an unfair invasion of privacy. Knowing all this, do you agree or disagree with the following statements?
